THE ARCHOSAUR ASYLUM VOL.6: New Products and Shipping Mastery

We are onto Part 6 of the Archosaur Asylum blog. Today we will discuss our two new models, as well as new advances in language and shipping!
First up, What's this about advances in language and shipping?

Well, we have a new Multi-Language feature installed on the website which allows translation of the entire site into various different languages. I pre-set a bunch based on where the majority of our clientele are viewing the site from. Polish, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, German, Turkish, and maybe one or two others are already built in. If you have a suggestion for an added language, please email us at: info@ancienteraart.com. We will add it if we can.

AS FOR SHIPPING: This makes me very very happy. I was going through the site analytics one day when I noticed that we had an inordinate amount of abandoned carts. When thinking through it, trying to decide why someone would abandon such amazing models (kidding), I couldn't wrap my head around it. There were a lot of them, so it did not make sense to me. I mean, if you don't want it, why put it in your cart? If you already decided you wanted it, and put it in your cart, then why would you change your mind at that stage? SO, I thought about why I would do such a thing. It didn't take long for me to undertsand. I had done such a thing not long ago. I was looking at a cool raptor fetus skeleton ( yes, lol-it was very cool), and I nearly bought it. I vacillated on the price a bunch but finally decided to pull the trigger. The piece was coming from somewhere in Europe. So, I added it to the cart and began the process to check out. The shipping was calculated, and came up to an additional third of the entire price of the piece! That was the coupe de grace, as I was already feeling irresponsible for the purchase.

Eureka! That must be it, I thought. The dang shipping numbers are too high. So, I began to investigate. I found that a lot of the rates to a lot of places were exorbitant. So, I got with my newly acquired logistics aggregate company- Shippo, and started digging in region by region to compare pricing. I found that their rates were much better than my rates right off the bat, but I also realized that in some cases ( in some regions) the default shipping option was a premium option like priority or express with no other available option. If yo can wait longer, the rate is dramatically better for standard shipping.

So, we are now combing through region by region applying Shippo rates, and adding standard shipping options. In some cases, we have cut available shipping prices in half! This is a long process, so we might not have gotten to your region yet. If we have not, and you want to buy, we will re-evaluate your region on the spot so that you can get the best rate. Please email us at info@ancienteraart.com to find out if the displayed shipping price is correct before you buy- we may be able to save you a handful of cash.

Ok, on to our new models. This is a sneak peek prior to their official release. The models are currently being painted for their debut, but I wanted to give my faithful subscribers an early shot at them. Use code PREROUND20 for 20% off (preorder pricing) on 'Skedaddle" and PREROUND21 for 20% off "Between Meals". There will not be a preorder round once the painted models arrive.

Here we have "Skedaddle" featuring "Nessa", Dracorex Hogwartsia (juvenile Pachycephalosaurus) at 1:10 scale. 1:10 sounds big, but at this age, this little girl would have only been about 10 feet long. That puts her at about 12 inches (304 mm) measured along the spine. So, in this compact position, the model is under 12 inches.

Hard to see in the pic, but she is actually looking backward... that will make sense when the 'Rexoning" debuts.

"Nessa" makes an appearance in the "Rexoning" battling T. rex diorama. In it, Nessa is minding her own business at the watering hole, when two titanic rexes locked tooth-to-tooth come crashing into her personal space. There is only one thing for her to do if she does not want to be crushed by the brawling behemoths- Skedaddle! This is a numbered limited edition of 20 pieces and will come with a certificate of authenticity.

The second new offering is "Between Meals" which includes a 1:20 scale 'Geraldina" juvenile T.rex ( the same character that is in the "Twinning" Model)

Gerladina sifts through the brush and finds a new friend.

The idea with this one is to look at the lighter side of life as a subadult Tyrannosaurus rex. Geraldina is between meals, so her belly is full, and she has time to take in the world around her. It is a chance to be inquisitive, not just chase after a meal. So, the takes some time to explore the foliage and brush, when lo and behold she discovers what could be a new friend. Well, that or at the very least, a snack for later.

The grass, mushrooms, and angiosperms are delicate, but they are printed in a semi-flexible resin, so they have a little bit of bounce to them. If you don't want to have to paint all of that, and would rather use diorama brush and grasses, we have an alternate base for you.

In this one, Gerladina's foot is just floating in the breeze, so you'll have to do something about that if you go this route. Of course, this is a much more durable model and one that is easier to paint.
